This is a heavy duty machine that shares many parts with Delta 14" band saws. It's in very good condition for its age. The rubber wheel tires are old and aged and should be replaced at some point.
This is the predecessor to the 14" models, and dates from the late 30s or very early 40s. I plan on taking more photos early this week. PM me if you want me to send them to your email me. The picture shown is the only one I have.
I'll pack it bolted to plywood in a large heavy duty cardboard box, and ship via FedEx Home Delivery. Local Pickup is also fine. I accept PayPal and credit and debit cards, as well as money orders or cash. PM me with any questions or interest. Thanks for looking. Scroll to Top.The Best Way to Set Up a Bandsaw!

The saw was in very good condition, including the light.
The table needed a scraping with a razor blade and a light buff with steel wool. The saw was dismantled and all painted parts sandblasted, and repainted. All other parts were cleaned and buffed where appropriate.
Although the tires were not completely hardened, and the bearings felt smooth, all were replaced with new. The saw never had a serial number which as I understand it puts the vintage ator Maybe As far as I know, there never was one for this little saw, so I was stuck making one. This band saw was on a Delta 8" x 16" flared leg stand not original welded type stand with the optional casters, this stand fits several Delta machines and is a newer probably 's bolt together stand This band saw weighs around lbs.
I do not have any real accurate way to date this band saw as the water type stick-on decal on the back that may of contained a serial or model is worn off and no metal tag was used, however this band saw is shown on page 5 in the Delta catalog on this site, this saw has soild cast iron wheels unlike other versions on this site so I believe this on one of the earliest version of the Model 10 inch Band Saw. There is another old sticker on the front lower cover the reads: Oliver H. Van Horn Co. New Orleans,LA.
I added a metal switch box with a 20 amp toggel switch and a new V-belt. Photo 1: Comments: Delta Model 10" band saw on stand as found. Source: C.

I know there are many fans of this little saw here, so thought I'd go to the experts for advice. I've got a chance to pick up a mint Delta 10" saw.
It does need tires, has no motor, switch or stand. So how high do I go? Google Sponsor Google Sponsor.
I'm not a fan of anything smaller than my 14" Delta, but if you will never need the power or capability of a 14", I suppose it would be up to how much you are going to spend getting it running. You can build a stand, so I'm not factoring that in. Delta parts might be hard to find, especially for a 10" saw. I'd put as big a motor as you can fit to it, up to probably a 1. Posts I had a 10" Delta Bandsaw years ago. It was wonderful for fine and light duty work. From what you're telling me, greater motor horsepower couldn't be really put to work because wider blades will crack?

It seems as though you know more about them than most folks. So, how much do you want to spend on one? Are you using it for serious work or do you just want to restore one and look at it? Value is based on so much more than other folks' opinions on what you should spend. It's a later Delta, made in USA, and has enough power to cut 6 inches of hardwood fairly well. I told you how high I'd go. But that's just based on my isea of value.
There are too many other tools I could really use that I'd rather spend money on. If money is no object, Grateful Dead concert tickets are selling for 1. I think the saw is worth at least 5 times the value of one of those tickets. The owner is pricing it as a collectible.
